Knitting help: please explain how to "sl 1 wyif"?Answer
My pattern reads as follows:
sl 1 wyif = slip one with yarn in front (slip as if to purl)
Can you please explain how this is done, or send me to a tutorial with diagrams/videos that explains this?
Hi, I believe that first you pull the working yarn to the front of the work as if you are about to purl and then you slip a stitch, insert needle into stitch as if you are about to purl it, but don't, pull it off the left needle, it will be on the right needle now, and then you return the working yarn to the back of the work. I'm pretty sure that is how you sl 1 wyif.
Slip 2 stitches with yarn in back, slip 1 stitch with yarn in front, (purl 1, knit 1) into the double yarn over.
"With yarn in front."
